Seal of Approval

Directions Wins at PRemier AwardsEvery day the members of Directions’ Public Relations team write news releases, coordinate media interviews, provide strategic direction on clients’ communications plans, draft tweets and facebook posts and brainstorm ideas to promote campaigns.

But Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 was no ordinary day; it was an award-winning day! The crew stepped away from their desks and traveled to Green Bay, Wis., for the second annual PRemier Awards, hosted by the Northeast Wisconsin chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

Established to recognize exceptional public relations work in the region, the PRemier Awards divide entries into nine categories and are judged by a reciprocal chapter of PRSA. Based on a scale of one-to-100, one PRemier Award is issued to the top scoring entry in each category, Awards of Excellence are presented to entries with 81 or higher points, and Awards of Merit are given to entries scoring 75 to 80 points.

The team brought four awards back from Green Bay, including one PRemier Award!

Media Relations category: PRemier Award and Award of Excellence
Directions Marketing helped SCA establish and build media relations programs in the four communities where the company has U.S. manufacturing operations.

Online Communications category: Award of Excellence
The PR team earned a second Award of Excellence for its public relations and marketing tactics promoting the www.enhanceyourbrand.com microsite. Created for Avery Dennison, the website helps the client reach a global market of end-users of pressure-sensitive labeling products.

Special Events category: Award of Merit
SCA partnered with Directions to turn SCA’s wind turbine dedication ceremony into the “Let’s Zero In On Energy Independence” sustainability fair which attracted nearly 300 attendees and earned widespread media coverage.

Directions president Kristine Sexton explained, “Our agency’s focus is to connect our clients’ brands and services to their customers. While we measure a project’s success by our client’s expectations, it’s inspiring and motivating to have other industry professionals give us the seal of approval for the work we do day in and day out.”

If your business has a story to tell, an event to plan or a product to launch, contact a member of our team. We’d be happy to tell you about the work we do, the awards we’ve won, or the ideas we have.
